How Do You Get Guides?

This series of blogs, The Guide’s Guide, is intended to help and educate people about Spirit Guides. I work to answer the most common questions and give tips on what to do, and not do. In these blogs, I will also discuss many personal experiences in the hope that you may be able to connect with them.  This entry looks at how you get Guides.

Contracts

Many seem to speak of having Guides, but you might be asking: How do we even get them?

Generally, there are a few ways.

Many tend to organize their Guides before they incarnate. Contracts are one way of getting their help. They can be made at the planning stage of your life, or even during it.

If you do get an offer for someone to be your Spirit Guide, make sure you know what you are getting yourself into first. My series on Soul Contracts may be helpful here.

Once you have decided who your Guides will be, you will generally discuss with them your needs, goals and what help you require.

If you are getting Guides with special skills, and should they require payment of some kind, you will also discuss what that will be.

This is not uncommon, as everyone has their own missions and things to do. If you need Guides with special abilities or skills, expect to offer something in return.

Generally, energy, artifacts (objects that have been infused with energies) or souls are the main currencies of the Astral world. Also, favors and servitude are not uncommon.

These types of Guides could also include gods, angelics, demonics and other such beings. No one does anything without an exchange on these levels. Nothing is “free.” It’s just how it works.

Also, DO NOT try and get a demonic as a Guide. They find it demeaning and will most likely screw you over for their own pleasure. They would have to be paid extraordinarily well to even seriously consider helping you.

Soul Family

Your Soul Family may also be Guides. They will help because of the love they hold for you.

As a rule, we all have a Soul Family. (There may be rare situations where this is not so, but they do not apply to Souls in general.)

You have your immediate Soul Family, which might be the Soul you were begat from, or a Soul you begat yourself. It may be a Twin Soul (The yin to the yang. I can’t recall if this is the correct term for it. Technically, it wouldn’t be a twin, for while you complete each other’s energies, they would also be opposite to each other.)

There is your extended Soul Family.

For example, my Soul energy is Phoenix energy, but my Twin Soul energy is Fae. (Hence, Geb is Phoenix and NUT is Fae.) The extended family would then be considered Fae.

They also may be Souls from past life families who you have formed bonds with.

It is likely that no contracts would be needed, and help would be freely given.

Higher Self and Source

Souls are multi-layered and complex. We are more than just “Us” in our body. Who we are is just one layer of our Soul.  Not only do we exist on many levels at the same time, but we have different hierarchies.

The Higher Self (or as some call it, The Overself) resides on a different vibrational octave. (See Astral levels here for an explanation.)

That greater part of your Soul contains all the answers and knowledge. For those who can connect to listen to the messages it sends, they will find it of great assistance and guidance.

I find the easiest way to connect to your Higher Self is to see yourself as one with it. When we see ourselves as separate, then a disconnect occurs.

The more you can “be” your Higher Self, the easier the feelings and messages will come.

The Source (or what some term God) also falls into this category. If you can commune with The Source, then you will find it a great blessing.

Yourself

You can also be your own Guide. This may sound strange and counter-intuitive, but it’s quite common.

Once we have lived our life, we may become our own Guides and give ourselves advice.

This works because everything is happening “now,” and time is really just an illusion in the greater reality.

It’s also most likely that you are helping yourself in another timeline. (See Mandela Effect.)

You may liken it to playing a computer game, getting the knowledge and experience of how it all works, then going back and instructing yourself on how best to play that game with the knowledge you have gained.

So, yes, that voice telling you not to do something might just be you from another timeline.

Changing of the Guards

Personally, I’ve had several Guides in my life. The Dakini have been my constant ones, along with my Higher Self.

I’ve also had my contract with The Dakini end when I was in my 40s. One day, they just informed me that they had done what had been agreed upon, and now others wanted to take over. So I said sure.

For a while, the god Thoth appeared to be quite active for me. The energy was quite different and he seemed to have an interest in helping me write my autobiography.

I’m quite certain Thoth was behind the scenes in making sure me and Omen connected. His name certainly came up enough.

Still, there came a point where I desired to work with The Dakini again, and so I made a new agreement. All in all, they are great guides. (Though they have trouble coping as incarnated humans.)

In Conclusion

Anyone can be a Guide. Whether they are good or not will very much depend on what you are looking to achieve and how well versed and experienced they are.

In the next entry, we’ll look at some hints and tips that are worth knowing  for Guides.
